SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ORIENTATION:

a. Molecular biology field:

- Using the molecular biotechnology such as technology of PCR, PCR-RFLP, AFLP SSR and genetic technology..., to evaluate biological resources (plant, animal, microorganism), research biodiversity and establish basic data of genes. Building the system of molecular level to classify plants, animals and microorganisms; priority for those are specialties with a highly economical and scientific value, this will be basic things for the management, exploration and identification of national owning rights of vietnamese biological resources.

- Doing research and developing diagnosis techniques to prevent plant and animal diseases.

b. Microbiological field:

- Doing researches in microbiological (microorganism) finished products to serve for the evaluation and treatment of the environment, also other finished products to prevent animal diseases like diarrhoea of piglets.

- Establishing fermentable technologies to produce microbiological products using as food for plants and animals.

- Production of microbiological fertilizers such as biophosphate fertilizer, nitrogen fixing fertilizer.

c.  Breeding field:

- Doing researches and conserving genes having benefits from animals, plants and micro-organisms

- Building the techniques for safe gene transfer. Creating preeminent and clean breeds of plants, animals and microorganisms by these techniques.

d. Food Biotechnology field:

- Doing researches for improving and industrializing production of traditional products like fermented soybeans (tuong, chao), rice wines, fermented fish sauce...

- Doing researches for producing high quality products like enzymes served for scientific researches, application in the fields of food technology, pharmacy, diagnosis of plant and animal diseases…

- Doing researches in extraction, purification, fixation ... technology of natural proteins (especially enzymes) serving for scientific researches, agricultural, fishery, forestry processing, human heath...

- Application of biotechnology for controlling the variation of post-harvest technology of cereal, vegetable in order to control their quality and to extend self-life.

- Developing techniques to check quickly the food quality by molecular biology methods and to detect the pathogen and toxic micro-organisms in foods. Establishing laboratory for food safety assurance.
